Epiphany

Epiphany struck,

Like lightning to metal,

I turned to myself,

And yelled never to settle.

The characters,

The books that read,

They taught me of journeys,

And put thoughts in my head.

They made me question life

Wonder what, how, and why,

Are we born to live,

Or are we born to die.

I began to realize that comfort and stagnancy,

Both held me down,

From pursuing the dreams,

I thought could never be found.

I see my future with color and light,

Because of my epiphany,

Which gave me the sight.

I find life in the world around me,

Now that I choose to not hide,

From the opportunities around,

That once scared me inside.
