Epitaph to Abby

Once, I was just a wee lad. I was born of a mom and a dad. Cute as a button, I didn’t eat mutton, Because that is not what we had. Our golden retriever puppy Was much more fun than our guppy. She ate everything, Calculators and string; They seemed to sit well in her tummy. Then one day she got very sick, My hands she no longer would lick. She had trouble breathing, I remembered her teething, But now she was much too lethargic. She never was sick in the past, But was heading downhill fast. There wasn’t a fix, So she crossed the Styx The blinds no longer half mast.
