Equality

She’s not so perfect
Yet she’s the one with whom I seem to connect
People who say we won’t make it
Just can’t seem to take it
To understand the power of this fascination
That has no hesitation
To keep two people together
Forever and ever
We have different beliefs,
I’m a Catholic and she’s an Atheist
But we both seem to be “the craziest”
So what does it matter that we are different
We both seem to be pretty persistent
We both crack jokes
We both are kind folks
So why can’t we be together?
Just cos some people can’t seem to understand
On the idea of two people being able to cope
Much better than their relationship could have hoped
So I should only have to say this one time
Even though I have to put it in a rhyme
It doesn’t matter how different two people are
Does not mean that they need to spar
Whether they are black, white, or even blue
It should not matter to you
Or from across the sea, you won’t really care
Because you know that person is quite rare
You’ll want to comfort them and be with them
You know why?
Because you love them
