Equality for All

Everyone has a challenge in some shape or form that they go through each day. Some people are too small and some too tall, but some have trouble saying “hey.” There are people out there that can’t walk and talk like you and I always do. When we see them, we behave so standoffishly, and we suddenly can’t talk, too. These people are sometimes treated with little respect when it comes time to get a job and make some money. Sometimes they are cheated and paid less then minimum wage and it is very far from funny. Silly memes such as Overly Attached Girlfriend and Condescending Wonka are viewed millions of times each day. Then there are memes that depict people with special needs, dehumanize them completely and make their worlds grey. Some are made fun of at school, a place where everyone should feel accepted, but not everyone abides by the golden rule. Bullying is so common that it is often overlooked. Therefore, many of these bullies don’t get caught. What I want for this world is respect. I want equality, respect, honor, dignity, opportunity and caring, not only for the ones ignorance deems deserving, but for everyone. This is my request, very daring. I want “the typical” to see people with special needs without the stigma of “special needs.” I want to see them treated like people, people we would wave to on the street, people whom we’d wave to and feel freer than free.
