Because I love you, I will be honest with you.

No lies or deception. I will tell you in an appropriate way when I am upset and why. I won’t do things behind your back. I will tell you about what is going on in my life.

Because I love you, I will build trust with you.

Developing trust with you will make you feel emotionally and physically safe. As your trust in me grows, I hope you will feel comfortable and open enough to share everything with me; the good and the bad.

Because I love you, I respect you.

I will admire you for who you are every day. I will not try to change you. I will always treat you as a person worthy of kindness, love, and understanding; even when we disagree.  

Because I love you, I will listen to you.

I will stop talking and listen without judgment or opinion unless you ask me. I won’t try to solve your problems or tell you what to do. When we argue, I will listen and take your side into consideration.
