Escape
Some days I wish to escape to a place sunny and warm with lots of wind,
A place where I won't constantly be reminded of sin.
To venture out upon the sand and disappear under the waves,
Drown out all my sorrows and my fear of tomorrows, no longer a slave.
Spiritual crimes in which I commit and the daily struggle to not submit.
The hate that bubbles under the surface and courses through my veins,
A steady nervous paranoia threatening to drive me insane.
Wading out into the shallow depths of the water,
The shell of a girl that used to be your daugher.
Fantasies morphed into bitter nightmares,
To dream upon a star, I do not dare.
18 and ashamed at the pain and the rage,
Slipping away emotionally but still I age.
And its source a broken heart left thay can't be saved,
Because you sedated my common sense and left me dazed.
You kissed the lips and gazed into the eyes that twinkled like the stars,
Only to turn around and sever the ties with the jagged edge of your knife to her heart.
Sweet lies that went undetected,
Yet I am the one left here affected.
Caged off in the prison of my own mind,
Restricted, sheltered, and naive,
I was blind.
Away from the lies, stress, and the pain.
Lost in the sand, slipping under the waves, I....wish to escape.
