Escape

It's funny,

How things can trap you

How a word can hold on and not let go

How a moment can keep your mind in chains

How your thoughts can attack

and your emotions shatter

Leaving you in a mess you can't clean

A moment you can't reconcile

A nightmare you can't comprehend

and a cell you can't escape

It's funny

How things can free you

How a word let's you escape

How a song makes you comprehend

How a line makes you reconcile

How a poem cleans the mess

Making sense of the chains

Guarding against the attack

Making a new image of the cracked glass

Until you can let go

Until you're free
