Escape

Wake in the morning To the sun across my face Knowing that today is the same As any other day Feeling the same, same Feeling of regret Feeling of pain Feeling of anger That were all released last night From the pencil sitting next to my bed Those feelings were released From the pain emitted through my fingers Sent from my brain to my fingers And then written on a page. The words have a rhythm The words have some sound But all together the words are an escape Poetry is an escape From what needs to be said But what never is An escape from our lives An escape from reality And an escape from the pain Of the disappointment Or of the hardships of life All put together in a stanza Which only the author understands Creating the hidden mystery Of what the poetry means

Poetry can be seen as many different things, but I see it as a way to keep humanity sane and civil.
