Escape

I needed an escape

From this reality of

So-called hatred.

I looked at my body

And disgust filled me.

I needed an escape

From this reality of

Self-loathing and self-depracation.

I looked at my scars

And sadness filled me.

I needed an escape

From this reality of

Hurting the ones I love.

I looked at my eyes

And tears filled them.

I needed an escape

From this reality of

Pills, bottles, and razors.

I looked at myself

And realization filled me.

I needed an escape

From this reality of

Depression

And the depths no longer control me.
