Escape
What I wanted was Escape
Back in those days
When I picture it on the ground it lays
Sometimes I see me and her in a field
Where the grass goes up to our knees
And we sit under peaceful trees
My singing voice carried so far in the breeze
Sometimes I see a rope on that tree
And hanging from it is no one but me
Most times it's the person I want to be
She would watch---sometimes cry---on that field
Those feelings forever lost
In the stains of time they were tossed
My headstone is now covered in moss
