escapism

Typing all my time away

my breath slows down, I cannot stay

much longer

oh how my eyes long

to rest until the day is done

and wake up on another one

a whole year wasted, maybe more,

my time washed up upon the shore

a hollow shell I have become

my feet and fingers going numb

I try to stay awake my dear,

but this is my eternal fear,

each day the next each day the last

how long can repetition last

I want to run away with you

to whichever place you choose

as long as it is worlds away

and we can stay there in the sway

of breeze and sky and ocean blue

I just want to escape with you

I may just go to sleep right now

I may place down my heavy plough

To dream of somewhere far away

A place where we don’t need to stay

A place where we can live for truth

A place where we still have a roof

A place where value doesn’t matter

Where we can make the loudest clatter

Shredding money into bits

No more of our fatal fits

No more worry to our bones

We come and go

We ebb and flow

Hiiii, my writing name is E.A Garner, cause why not, and I am a gifted kid burnout who’s failing english class but never stopped thinking in poetic internal monologues. Most of my poems are really just vents that ended up being really metaphorical. I spend my days either reading or watching cartoons, photographing my cats, and contemplating the inevitability of death and stuff. I’m 18, I get overly invested in fictional characters and I’m a leo. My pronouns are they/he and my favorite food is pasta.
