This Essence of Tragedy

When kindled, love's a flame, a precious thing

Starting ever so small, still innocent

It consumes him, growing yearning burning

Through and through, though she's shy of his intent.

But soon falls like he fell, embracing fire

Letting it burn through her, it too consumed.

Their fire as one, true love to sire

Joyful, elated, forever presumed.

Ere long an eternity, an instant

Passed and gone, she found her fire dwindle

Pushed him away, and herself made distant

Their fire in a blink, no hope to kindle.

Take heart: Love is a fire that can burn.

This Essence of Tragedy, you should learn.
