Eternal Love

Realizing I was going to die,

I threw you aside.

Not because I didn't love you,

but because I loved you too much.

I have always been yours

and I couldn't ask for anything more.

I wanted you to leave and find someone healthier than me.

Yet, you've stayed to wash my reeking feet,

you've stayed and forced me to eat so many beets.

Everyone laughed and spit in your face,

but unlike me, I saw that you couldn't be replaced.

Alone with four kids was the biggest burden I dropped on you,

But you stayed because you loved me.

As an angel, I saw you wipe the children's tears.

Unlike the others, you didn't solve the pain through multiple beers.

Because I loved you, I want you to love again.
