Eternity

A busy street, in the middle of town, The rhythm of the beat, the heat, abound. Suddenly, a tingle, I turn around. My heart skips a beat, and the sounds wind down. The man of my dreams, a prince with a crown, We locked eyes, lips, as if nothing were ‘round. We danced and twirled, floated up off the ground. He in a suit, and I wearing a gown. But the lightning crashed, and the thunder rolled, A letter came, and he was sent to war. Promised me we’d be for eternity. Prayed for his safety, but the answer was cold. His face, I saw, as I drifted into the shore. ‘Cause eternity, he promised to me.
