I closed my eyes and I saw you lying next to me

You were so close that I could reach my hand over and caress your sleeping face

The soft breathing held a steady pace as you dreamed

I could draw every detail of you as it was burned into my memories

As your body faded out

I was brought back to the hard reality

That you had left long ago with no way to return

So darling, do not fret
