"Eternity With You By My Side"

The sweet smell of a ruby rose surrounds us,

red ants on honey.

You pass a strawberry my way.

I watch you delicately take a bite of your red velvet cake.

Then slowly as a crumb tumbles down your crimson sweatshirt,

I watch your aged hand swipe it off.

I remember the first day I met you

And you told me you loved the way burgundy Autumn leaves twirl and whirl

Tornadoes on a cold crisp day.

And even decades later,

We love each other the same.
