A Eurydice Dipped in Fallacy

Every word I said was a song

Meant for you to hear

So that I might stumble

To the darkest depths

For the lightest soul

Only for fire

To let your skin drip to wax

Until all that was left

Was beauty undone

A muse fallen

Plunged into words

you no longer meant

But I saw beauty

In mismatched letters

My song had been yours

In the order I wanted

But the wax melted my voice

While you told me to keep singing

Until my throat had roted

And when the song stopped

So did you

Because the best lies you ever told

Were the ones I sang
