Evanescence

Back where hills roll through the land And far off fields grow Where had once been sand Stalks of gold, do rise high To spiral up into the sky Through the juxtaposed city blocks Where walk the civil and the sane A little Sunday paradox, To the naked eye, all seem the same Where penny thoughts Trickle through your mind And laughter bubbles audibly From within the faces that you find How folly may seem such relations So blissfully juvenile Still I relish our little congregations However fleeting and futile Back where I can see Me in your eyes Feel your skin lather mine Live another moment Before I forget Before I die Let this breath be eternal Let it rest upon my lips Always hearing pleasured purrs Of cats and locking hips Let's ride this bumpy road together Wear it out and run it flat But not here Where pretty words Mean little now Because they are Just that
