Even Today; A Grandaughter's Rights

To the ones offended by jokes Of Jews, pastors, Racial slurs, There are women in every subtopic And we get it the worst. My Grandpa's pretty old school But his views in today are pretty ridiculous. "Don't bother with sports," he says, "Don't get any idea of the 'Lime Light,' Besides, your brother could beat you, He is the man after all. Sit down, stay out of sight." Yeah sure, Why not treat me as the fool, Go praise trouble-making tools, As they say "Girls are to be seen, Not heard." Yes, I can make a great sandwich, But I may be busy with other things. If you didn't know, There are six million more women than men Who do over half the world's work, 66 percent; Today your paycheck is probably signed by a woman's pen. There is so much more that you don't know, So why don't you go make me dinner, Everything is no longer about the average Joe, Women are also winners. But it still remains the same, I hear the same thing everyday, Why do I even have a name When spoken to as an "it." By the way, Don't dare utter profanity, And on that note, Don't even show you know how to think. Don't look like a mess, Might as well go put on a pretty dress, It's not that you're dressing for success, But you know, "Girls are to be seen, Not heard."

So true. It won't be until women decide to vocalize and speak with their actions that things will turn around.
