Evening Sky
Walking alongside the quiet beach
Our feet sinking into the soft sand
I sigh softly
As we gazed out over the wide ocean
As I put my hand in front of my face
The other holding your hand
The cool ocean breeze softly blows my hair back
Along with my white's summer dress
As we continued walking alongside the beach
Gazing at the seemingly endless stretch of sand
I gripped your hand just a bit tighter
Letting the warmth from your hand seep into mine.
Stopping our walk, we looked out at the horizon
Watching the sun sink into the ocean
The evening sky filled with the different colors.
Taking my other hand into your own
You turned me around
Gently placing your forehead against mine
And carefully wrapping me up in your arms
As we gazed into each others' eyes
Brown meeting brown
You smiled, a secret smile reserved solely for me
As you leaned down
Our noses touched
Once again, I closed my eyes
Our breaths mingling together
As our lips softly met
The sound of the waves breaking, the seagulls squawking, and the wonderful colors of the evening sky
All melted away at the feel of your lips on mine
We were lost, lost in our own world
Where there's only the two of us
Breaking apart, I reopened my eyes
We looked at each other,
Both of our faces slightly colored
And as I smiled, so did you.
Wrapping an arm around me
We began walking once more alongside the ocean
Walking towards the evening sky
And the future that lay in wait for us.
