Ever Notice

Do you ever notice,

That girl in the hall,

The one everyone bullies till she may bawl.

Or the new boy, who stays away from everyone,

He sits in the back of the room,

People say he's crazy, that she's just dramatic.

But everyone notices,

When the Cheerleader is in the bathroom crying

Or when the Quarterback isn't talking about the game this weekend.

Why do we only question those who won't be the Homecoming Queens and Kings when we leave,

But stay away from the loners, the geeks, the emos?

Those are the people who will be successful,

But do you even know why?

The kids, the ones like me, we are told we can't do something everyday.

That new boy, his father maybe a drunk, his mother may be a pill popper,

His life at home may suck, and yet everyday he wakes up to escape that place.

That girl you bully, because she's fat or her face is broken out in zits, or she's been with a lot of guys.

Maybe she starves herself, maybe she covers her face in makeup, maybe she wants somebody to want her the way she wants them.

We are so quick to judge them, we always ignore them.

But the Cheerleader is crying cause the Running back broke up with her,

She thinks she's pregnant and he leaves,

She will never tell you the whole story.

The Quarterback isn't bragging bout his 40 yard pass this weekend,

Because his father was sick and had passed on after the game,

He won't open up, neither will she.

They then become the people they bully.

And we never even notice they were once a different person.

Do you ever notice?
