Everlasting

I lay my head on your chest

and feel your heart beat

as we lay down to rest.

I gaze up into your eyes

feeling the warmth emanating from your skin

as we await the dreaded sunrise.

I interlock my fingers amidst your hand

all other feelings wash away

like the waves wash the sand.

I close my eyes to dream of you

together forever we will be

and wish that you believe that too.

Time has passed

that night was our final

I knew perfect would never last.

Our love grew

over those beautiful months

but remember I will always love you.
