Every Beat of My Heart

[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"65426","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"360","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"480"}}]]

Every Beat of My Heart

Thump-dump, thump-dump, thumb-dump.

My heart raced as it endured the anxiety attack.

But even though my psychology dwindled down to insanity,

Perseverance was something that my heart did not lack.

Thump-dump, thump-dump, thumb-dump.

I used to have no fear in opening up to others.

This was before they decided to burn

The now-vulnerable heart to cinders.

Thump-dump, thump-dump, thumb-dump.

What they did not know is that a simmering

Coal can be reignited with fervent tenacity,

And cannot be snuffed out, if you were wondering.

Thump-dump, thump-dump.

People will crush me.  People will hate me.

But a tender heart is not made by a perfect life;

Rather, it is made due to cushioning trampler’s feet.

Thump-dump.

And no matter what happens to this heart that pumps,

I will continue to love and serve the world

Until I witness my last breath; until my last…

Thump-dump…
