Every Eye Sees Differently

In today's world, definitions can be rather ambiguous

Not literally; figuratively, I pray you trust

The beauty of life is the freedom to think

Some opinions are dull, some shine brighter than pink

But one must be conscious of differing ideas

These thoughts tend to change for us over the years

For children, we desire to do what we wish

The experience we lack is the point that we miss

And adults all the wise think they know what is best

For their time it worked, they passed life's big test

And this difference of thought, unfortunately gives way

To altercation, indecision, each side trying to sway

The point I am clearly trying to make

Is for adults and teachers alike to give us a break

Times are changing and we are too

But our passions and wishes will always stay true

Let us take responsibility and make our own decisions

Let us find what makes life worth living

For clearly we all define words and ideas differently

To prove this I will write an example for you to see:

Education

Definition: The field of study that deals mainly with methods of teaching and learning in schools

Defined by students: Something everyone goes to school to get because it is supposed to help us succeed in life

Defined by adults: An all important necessity given to children in order for them to be productive to our society

School

Definition: An establishment offering specialized instruction and/or basic education

Defined by students: The prison where we must sit through pointless classes and be subject to bullying and mood swings

Definition by adults: The building our tax money funds that is used to instruct kids and keep them out of trouble

Success

Definition: Favorable or desired outcome; antonym of failure

Defined by students: Doing what we love and enjoy for our future

Defined by adults: Obtaining a substantial income in a white collar job
