Every Night

Every night I lie awake.. Because it's difficult to sleep, And with the love that I still carry It's your love I'll always keep. Gone is what you are... from the time you walked away, And with the love I'll always have, In my heart is where you'll stay. Every night I lie awake... And I'm hoping and I'm wishing, For you to somehow find, What your life was always missing, Goodbye is what you said... When you walked away from me, So goodbye it what it is, Because it's time I set you free. Every night I lie awake... With regret and with remorse, For what was done is done, And life will take it's course. Over is the chance... And it's the chance I never took, So the pain inside is multiplied, But even more from just a look. Every night I lie awake... With these thoughts still in my brain, And with this love still in my heart, It's a love I'll never change. Absent is the love... Only when it's fueled by hate, And with this love that I still have, It's a love I can't escape. Every night I lie awake... Because my heart's been torn in two, And what I feel is how I feel, so it's what I'll always feel for you, Forgotten are the times... That left me standing shattered, For I didn't do, I should have done when it had mattered. Every night I lie awake... I'm so empty, I'm so hallow, And because this path was set, It's the one that I must follow, Done is what it is, As it's over and complete... So my words mean nothing more, Than some stranger from the street.
