every single day
i never used to understand
the complexity of the human species.
even a year ago,
locking myself away for hours
in some attempt
to escape from the outside world.
sometimes it takes a push;
sometimes it takes a shove,
knocking you down
in a way that leaves you breathless.
and the more time i spent in the sun,
the more i began to understand
what life is really about.
there's a certain type of love to be found
in the first friendships of a former shut-in.
so i let the time shape me
as if i was always a clay figure
just waiting for the force to change.
and now i go outside every single day.
i drive wherever my hands on a steering wheel take me.
although i still have so much left of this world,
so new to me,
left to discover,
i learn its patterns more and more
every day.
