To every star in the sky,

To every star in the sky,

I certainly don’t shine the brightest
In my city, country, or world
But I don’t see a single one of you
Casting shadows on others
And taking the glory for your own
So I find comfort
In that I don’t have to shine alone
But can choose to be one in a billion beautiful stars that shine in a single starry night

Your vast expanse may scare some others
Or make some want to explore new worlds beyond
But I merely get lost in you
Your void diminishes any need for thoughts, feelings, or words
I only appreciate your beauty and brilliant glow
And I feel safe in the arms of your open sky

Although I live in a city polluted by smoke and light
Only a few of you shining
Is what I need for a good night
Thank you, wonderful stars,
Every one of you,
For brightening up my world
