Everyone Deserves Love (Why Does it Matter?)

There is a story, that I dare not tell - it often changes, still it never ends well There was a boy, secretly in love; but the secret just was not enough He wanted to touch, hold and feel; he needed his fantasies all to be real But no one could understand, the passion between a man and man Love has no meaning; it is not true if we can't be with who we want to Part of me is questioning, when will it all truly end and is the pain worth reliving, over and over again Why does it matter who we love when will you change your mental image of love Why are we lying to hide what we feel Stop the lies and hate; let's just keep it real When we fall in love, there is no wrong to see the simple fact is that it's just you and me our heartbeats match each other to create a song How dare others claim our love is wrong Our song is beautiful, and we keep it on repeat with such passion and grace, love touches all of us deep Time begins to freeze, we can barely breathe and we get all weak, weak in the knees Love has no meaning, it can't be true if we can't be with who we want to Open your mind, just trust your heart Right here and now is where the path starts Why does it matter who we love when will you change your mental image of love Why are we lying to hide what we feel Stop the lies and hate; let's just keep it real I'm not ashamed that I can't resist, the sweet feel of her soft lips Would it make any difference if she were a man and I were his Mrs, Why must people hate; love touches every gender, age and race We have to keep up with the pace, and the changes from day to day We all deserve love in our own way, No one has the right to discriminate Everyone deserves love, it's a true fact just sit back, relax; be ready for when love attacks

I loved this so much. I think it was when you said "when will you change your mental image of love?" That's a really true statement.. people who aren't gay do have a mental image of what a marriage and a relationship looks like. A gay couple to them looks like a friendship taken wrongly. I think this poem was beautiful. Thank you for it.
