What they were called…
Negroes. Stupid. Ignorant. Less-than. Inadequate. Niggers.
What they really were…
Citizens. People. Mothers. Children. Husbands. Workers. Human-beings.
What they endured…
Injustice. Hell. Pain. Shame. Lies. Death. Humility. Threats. Intimidation. Terror. Fear. Struggles. Discrimination. Insecurity. Judgement. Violence. Suffering.
What they had…
Family. Faith. Endurance.
What they didn’t…
Restrooms. Clean water. Justice. Education. Jobs. Financial stability. Basic rights.
What they deserved…
The exact same treatment as everybody else, from every individual.
What’s to blame…
Stupidity. Ignorance. Greed. Stubborness.
What can we do…
Nothing. The deed is done, the pain is there to stay. Do not increase it through further ignorance. Everyone is equal in the Lord’s eyes. For all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God.
