Everyone Has a Past
I understand it is hard to open up
Well, I guess its because I know myself.
I've done things I'm not proud of.
Everyone has a past.
But everyone is better than they used to be
Ive had my heart broken so many times--
I know what fear is like.
I know what it means to feel like
maybe...just maybe
if you closed off your heart, it wouldn't hurt anymore...
maybe... just maybe....
you wouldn't have to feel the pain.
But without Darkness, how could we enjoy the light?
I won't judge you--
you could say anything and It wouldn't change my mind.
Everyone has a past
and everyone is better than they used to be.
Don't ruin the present
by worrying about a past or a future
you have no control over.
I know you are skeptical
since I haven't known you long
but everyone has a past
and everyone is better than they used to be
I want to get to know you in the limited time we have
I care
you intrigue me
and I want to be your friend.
The timing was wrong--
that is the only explanation.
But we could be the best thing this world has seen
if you only let me in.
I stand here with this spoon,
prepared to attack your wall
made of so many things I can't get through
concrete
brick
wood
pain
fear
loneliness
You deserve more than this:
you are wonderful
you are kind
you are smart
and you are talented.
I'm not perfect myself:
I'm young
impulsive
stubborn
moody
argumentative
lazy
dull.
But this could be something good, if you would only just let it.
I see the bruises
I see the scare
but I also see the man you want to be.
Everyone has a past
But everyone is better than they used to be
