Everyone leaves

They tell us to be careful

that life is hard, and cruel

but I would never listen

and now I look the fool.

They tell us people leave

and I knew it to be true

but some stay together forever

I thought we were those few.

I joked how losing you

would make me lose my mind

and now that you are gone

I wish that I was blind

Seeing you was once a blessing

It came with no extra cost

but now I pay the price

you remind me of what I've lost

I lost my best friends

my family, better yet

if you had asked me to wager on our friendship

I would've made the bet

Looking back on my naiveness

I can see I was a dunce

I knew I wouldn't be able to keep everybody

But I didn't think they would all leave at once
