Everyone Matters

Growing up in a broken home

Watching my dad lift his hand to my mother under the influence of alcohol

Being bullied by the way I act that was the hook

I dreamt of a day when justice would be took

I smiled everyday like I didn’t care

I laughed with them just to be fair

I laughed so the tears wouldn’t fall

I waited at night when my head hit the pillow so the water could fall

I am now 16 and have mastered my face

I have mastered the attitude that life will never be ok

I am broken inside and I can’t be fixed

I have had my heart broke multiple times since I was the age of 6

I have to fit in this world of material things

Where every girl wants to look like a Barbie

If you didn’t drink, smoke, and have sex at this age

You weren’t even consider a human being

Trying to fit in without doing stuff that hurts me

Dressing a certain way just to be a homie

Friends they say they are only because I play follow the leader

I go to bed wondering if life is even worth living.

I look back at my trouble past and I have one mission in my head

I want to grow up with a mindset that the people that judge me have no opinion

What they say won’t hurt my soul, but bring me to greatness

I will accomplish what my mother, father, and sister had not a chance in

I’ll be the first to go to college and be successful through hard work and determination

I want to fall in love with someone who cares for me and who truly loves me

Somebody who won’t leave my heart into the to sun dry

Someone who won’t let my heart shrivel up and die

I want my kids to be proud of me for who I am

I will raise my kids to be the best that they can

To not worry with no one thinks and be the best that they can be

Because life has a past and it may not be pretty

But we have to live in the present and move forward with power and conviction

To make it to the future with success and resilience

Because everyone is beautiful and everyone is special.

Because I believe and have a mindset

That everyone matters.
