Everyone's Stories in One Building
The girl smiling
But drowning in stress
Inside she's crying
Her life is a mess
History due next hour
English paper to revise
Math work will devour
Science is her demise
Walking through the halls thinking I'm not okay
But just make it through another day
The boy bragging about his truck
Maybe find some friends
But sadly no luck
The fake smiles blend
Thinks he's not smart
What else can he do?
He hides his heart
Maybe dreams don't come true
Walking through the halls thinking I need to look good
But if I could leave, I totally would
Panic attacks and expectations
Don't even think about procrastination
Deadlines and due dates
Even if you didn't sleep, concentrate
Backpacks stuffed or papers spread
Apparently it's vital to get ahead
Your future relies on your grades
You'll need a good job if you want to get paid
Requirements different for each class
After that test you're just praying to pass
Testing your limits and much more
How can each class be a bore
And yet so hardcore?
Navigating not just schoolwork
Homework
Handiwork
Doodle artwork
But also your friend network
Grade school friend suddenly changed
All your pals completely rearranged
Debating which ones to keep
She's turned cheap
He's turned into a creep
Wondering if you just require continuous upkeep
Or if you just need some sleep
Or if you really do need this
Old friends to dismiss
New friends to meet
Lunchtime is not just to eat
You try the friendly greet
Face as white as a sheet
But it's in the back of your mind
Nothing's really outlined
So what if you fall behind?
Every job is a daily grind
No matter what work you get assigned
Who's to remind
The need to unwind
This school designed
In order to confine
But you wish to break free
For once be carefree
Back to school and remember
At least we get a break in December
So hang in there
And always know there's someone that does care
