Everything is Awesome

Everything is Awesome Poem

Amazing, the beauty of life.

A beautiful sun cuts through the clouds like a silver knife

These days, I wake up the happiest man alive

I have almost never woken up again all because of a drive

To seem cool and popular to the lowest of lows

Left myself and my family with the lowest of woes

Tried to hide my demons with substances that harm,

Theses feeble attempts of happiness took my family by alarm

After a few harsh lessons were learned

I realized everything worth having, needed to be earned

I put down the bottles, the powders, and the pills

I realized that I wasn’t me, and that I was ill

It took me some time to learn who I was again

A brother, a son, a student, a friend

This is not a story of sadness

This is a story showing my gladness

I had the right people who still cared about me in the strongest ways

The reason I am awesome is because I am still here today

Today, I am happy, a student, and a friend

I am not haunted by my past, but I am always here to lend

An hear, open arms, and understanding to someone in those shoes,

I’ll be damned if I ever see another friend in the news.

I love this life, I can’t even  begin to explain

How much better it is to feel pride than shame
