Everything to come

Dear regret,

I guess I need to explain

Why I don’t address you

You remind me of my pain

Yet you are more than true

Honest from the day we met

To this day, still the same

But all you do is blame

Me for what’s happen, yet

You make me become better

Though you’re not a good teacher

You’re more like a friend

Imperfect, but trying

You used to be a preacher

Screaming for the end

Of pain, simply dying

I was always with you,

Frankly, for way too long

But I left you in my past

Where, sadly, you belong

Though we are no longer close,

I remember dearly

Of a time you were a part

Of me, when you meant the most

You helped me to think clearly

Though we are better apart

You help me to grow, become.

With love, and with all my heart,

Everything that is to come
