Everything is Fine The Facade of Perfection

I know what they expect of me,
I did my hair, curls and all, 45 minutes it took,
I put on my makeup, even eye shadow,
put on a cute necklace to match my outfit,
and I put on my smile.

I am ready for the day,
I’m ready to present to the world
That it's perfect, life is just perfect, I’m perfect.
Because they aren’t ready for real conversations,
Deep conversations about the state of my soul, my heart, my mind

“How are you doing?” they ask,
Never really wanting the truth,
you can see it in their eyes,
Hear it in their voice,
They are in a hurry,
So we know to smile and say “I’m fine, Im great”

They want to know: how is work,
have you watched this show, how is the weather,
how are you doing in this fictional world of hurry up and keep busy,
don’t feel, don’t over share.
Share just enough to be connected by words,
but not enough to be connected by the soul.

What are we so afraid of,
Why do we shy away from soulful true connections,
Why are we so afraid for people to see our pain, our grief,
our confusion, our loss ways or our failures?

These thoughts, emotions or situations are not who we are,
We are not our pain, our grief,
our confusion, our loss ways or our failures.

These are all situational and they affect our soul but it's not who we are,
In order to heal, move forward, our souls need these experiences validated,
Not numbed, not pushed away, not pushed down
They need to be felt,
and we need to know that having all the above is more than okay,
It is apart of the journey to becoming who we are meant to be.

I don’t believe there is a reason for everything,
Sometimes life is just unfair, and cruel.

I do believe that our souls need to feel all it comes across,
and healing comes through feeling these parts inside of us,
Healing comes through letting yourself know that these feelings are just sensations in our body.
Healing is sharing these truths,
so that you know you are not alone.

Most  importantly our souls need to be connected to other souls
Who speak their truths, and reveal all of them,
The good, the bad, the ugly,
The deep down truths, struggles and obstacles.

Our souls need to be connected to other souls
Who over share in hopes of making a true connection,
Realizing they aren’t alone and they are understood.
So we can heal as a whole.

I believe there are some people who cross our path,
To give our soul a piece of them,
or for us to give them a piece of our soul,
Light to light, light to darkness,
and sometimes darkness to light,
To reveal to our soul its purpose,
To heal, to grow, to struggle,
Which only happens through connection.

Our souls can not evolve to be their whole self,
Behind facades of perfection and disconnection

So dare to be different,
Bear your souls truths,
Connect to other souls,
Struggle, be uncomfortable,
Grow, evolve, and be you,
Your entire you,
as the journey and seasons change,
Embrace struggles, obstacles and trials,
With honesty and make true connections,
That lead to healing.
