Everything is Normal

The saloons are full of gaiety and laughter

The wretched one looked through the fences

Smelling the sweetness of the night

The pillowing smoke blocking his sight

The wretched one turned his attention toward the sky and counted the stars

He could see through the sky’s lies

The wretched one looked at the sign at the entrance

It laughed and smiled

Then the sign blurred

His beautiful wife gave him a kiss

His children said they loved him

Come with us Daddy they screamed

Snap out of it!

The saloons quieted

The smoke abruptly stopped

The sign was broken

Everything is Normal
