The Evil Truth
It started as a stress relief,
Nothing to hard or deep,
But soon it grew from a simple task to a much deeper self-preservation.
School started,
A whole new level of a hell I never lived before,
With people speaking unkind words and spewing empty thoughts.
I was not teased as badly as books make it out to be,
But I saw what happened to others,
I wouldn't have stood a chance in their shoes.
I nearly ran away from it all,
The boyfriend,
The bullies,
The overbearing school work,
Losing my best friend.
Only a few things kept me on my feet,
Compassion, dedication, and stubbornness.
Twisting and manipulating got my through the tough days,
Bending words to my will and capturing their meaning on paper.
Sometimes the paper would tear because it could not handle the pressure of my pen,
The weight of my soul upon its thin skin.
The days were my mind was clear and my soul was at peace,
Compassion and curiosity clearing revealed itself upon the pages of my notebook.
But word expression only was not nearly enough to help suppress the pain I felt,
The darkness that was tarnishing my soul.
Physical arts lead me towards better days,
Creating myself into a dancer of God,
But sometimes that was not enough.
Trashing my work,
Feeling as if nothing is good enough,
That my life is just not as important as everyone makes it out to be,
What is this feeling of worthlessness?
How can I make myself heard among all these loud voices?
I take my emotion, and I create the story,
I write the tales of lovers,
Of adventurers,
Of sadness and of rejoicing,
I moved myself away from my reality and played with the world of imagination,
It made me into the confident being that speaks loudly today.
The words I once etched into desks,
And the darkness that once filled every bone,
Has been chased away by my own words,
Written in such a way that I may never fear against a strong evil again.
I conquered and now I see,
That the only evil that can tarnish me is me.
