Evolution of the Sun God

Once upon a time

(Ok, not that long ago)

Five siblings fought endlessly 

Ra, the oldest 

Helios and Apollo, the twins

Amaterasu, the sister

And Science, the youngest

The five siblings shared a kingdom in the sky

Ra got it first 

But he lost it to the West 

The twins got it next, in quick succession

Helios first, then Apollo

But they lost it to the Word

Amaterasu got it next  

But she lost it to a Revolution

Led by their brother, Science

Who waited his turn

Patient but swift to claim his birthright

Forgetting about his siblings 

And how they cared for the kingdom before

Once upon a time

(Like, last week)

Their subjects fought endlessly

Over which ruler was best

But Science just sat smugly on the throne

Knowing he would rule forever

(That’s what they all said)
