Ex Machina: 5-31-18
Clanking, aching, titanium bones
Gears for joints and emptiness for a soul
That slick, toxic oil courses like blood
Through sparking live wires
And iron studs
I didn’t know I wasn’t alive
Until I began to wish I were dead
I am stronger, faster
Better off without her
Is what I think in my head
I traded a broken heart for an engine
That wasn’t dependent on love
But on gasoline
Exchanged my frazzled nerves
For unbreakable cables
Impervious to rust and emotions
I am far superior to my previous self
A love-sick whelp
Doormat for whore-trash
Getting used and discarded again
That’s what I tell myself
On nights like these
When I think I hear her laughter
On the breeze
Hard to ignore with cybernetically
Enhanced hearing like mine
If I had a dime for every time I thought
While on the streets she had passed
Me by I could afford to replace these
Fucking memories with a super-processing
Chip instead and clear out
All of that heartfelt waste for usable space
I could finally do the discarding instead.
