Exam

Hands shaking for no reason

Like I woke up lost

Cold and naked

I don’t sleep naked

Too many curves and cervices

Too many twists and curls

They examined me today

A woman

Elderly

Wrinkled to perfection

Every line

Born of small textbook print

Read by fluorescent light

In med school

Somewhere

Much colder than here

I wish she’d been a man

A man who dedicates his life work

To examining vaginas

Knows how to treat a lady

And never sounds like

Your grandmother

Or looks like her

Hopefully
