Expectation
The system tells us we are perfect,
then asks us to submit,
to buy the latest products and fashions
to never challenge what subscriptions we have to the people,
the people who know what makes us beautiful,
who know what makes us lyrical and insightful.
But what value does that have? To know that someone else
holds the respect for you, and can love what you do?
When you yourself are held together by the stitches
of another's love, and everyday we search for a little more thread
I say this, do not ask to be loved by another
treat yourself as you would your own brother
learn to accept you for what you are, and if someone else can,
even better.
