Expectations
Trapped in fear,
Never knowing which way to turn
For fear I look away.
Someday hoping to see my way,
Seeking but never finding,
Met with darkness
My eyes shut.
Dreaming of my way to leave
This wretched place.
Fear takes hold,
Sends me back
Leaving me forgotten.
Looking around for family near
Stressed, they appear.
Not daring speak my soul,
Doing as I’m told,
I serve.
Hopping to be accepted
I do my best,
Falling short
Reaching up
But with no hope
Im left alone
In this hole
Forgotten.
Depressed, alone
In this cave
Wondering if anyone can hear
I shout for help,
With echoes of the cave
Comes greater fear.
Trust is almost gone
Acceptance still eluding
Depression almost here
Doubting my worth,
I give one last cry.
From behind
I hear a sound
I turn around
To see my friends
standing there,
Waiting.
To be free of doubt
All to do was turn around
For standing there,
My friends and fam
Ready to help.
From the ashes
I arise,
The pain still hurts
But the healing starting
The process long,
But not forgotten
I will never doubt
How to find
The way out
Now I know the way to home
All to do is turn around.
