Expectations

As I stand beneath a sea

Of mighty titans that came before me.

I look around as if to find

Any achievements I can call mine.

So small and simple they seem to be

Nothing like those titans that stand before me

How can I be like them?

Those that have done what no one can.

The clock is ticking my time up

Will I ever fill my cup?

Expectations are all I see

Of what my parents set for me.

Sometimes I ask and even cry

Oh, who am I who I am?

Yet one note seems to ring true

A light a mist a world of blue

It fills my soul and changes my view

A still small voice saying, “Son I love you.”
