Expectations

It’s all retarded.
Whether it be big or small,
It’s all discarded.
Have I stuck to something?
I can’t recall.

It’s not because it’s mainstream,
But because of my self-esteem.
That’s why I don’t have any dreams.
Do you get what I mean?

People around me are asking me,
What do you want to be?
Well, I don’t know, I’m 17 can’t you see?
How do you not know?
Why do you want to know?

You’re forcing hope upstream,
Upstream my bloodstream.
I’d rather look up and scream.
Do you get what I mean?

The build up of confidence
Digging deeper for your downfall,
And even if you have persistence,
It’s just a waste of time overall.

Calm down and look around.
Just listen closely to all the sounds.
All these people with money and everything,
All happy, no problems, hardships, or anything.
That’s the type of person you see in me?
I guess I’m not the person you dreamed of me to be.
