Expectations and Reality

Start of freshman year at our school camp
You began to play the piano and I fell into a trance
Our relationship was off and on again
But I always wanted to be more than just your friend
Admiring from a distance
I didn't realize how much I missed this
When we started to fake flirt
I didn't expect it to hurt
We laid together watching bad horror movies with no plot
3am on your couch, you got stuck in my head
For a dare, we kissed.
But it felt like there had to be so much more to this
I've never had this emotion so bad
And while I truly do admire everything about you
I know that a future between us would be nearly impossible
Since the paths we're taking will inevitably lead us to different destinations
You're so impulsive, yet smart
And I just wish you'd give me back my heart
I know it may sound cringe, but I want to be with you and binge
Every episode of all your favorite shows
It seems so immature but I can't find a cure
I guess I'll keep having to pretend since I'm still just a friend
I know you don't feel the same, so this is really fucking lame
But dude, I think I'm in love with you
