Experiences of a Nonbinary poet: Comfort food

Cucumbers doused in rice vinegar and salt Tangy and crisp Mangos cut into cubes, just barely ripe enough to eat Tart and sweet Peaches in chopped into quarters Juicy and soft Funny how so many people think of these as healthy things When I think of them as comfort foods Cucumbers whisper of peacefulness, silence and a good book Curled up in my favorite reading nook Mangos call out to sunny days spent on the porch Not a worry in sight, much like the clouds Peaches laugh for balmy summer days and an evening of fireworks Simple joys that melt like ice-cream on my tongue I wish I could have just one But cucumbers, mangos and peaches I have none I need some comfort I have none
