Experiences of a Nonbinary poet: Entry One

It's been a month or so since I realized that I don't belong in this skin Every glimpse in the mirror It makes me wince Maybe I'd feel better being made of tin I'd love to escape this horror Of feeling like I've got one foot in And one foot out Or perhaps feeling like somewhere In and out have no meaning It hurts to hear a name That used to be mine Tear into my soul like a serrated knife It hurts to see myself When I don't feel myself When I don't fit where I used to Like an old door warped Out of its frame
