Expression

The salt droplets fall faster

Than I can put words on the page

Each feeling I express

From elation to firing rage

Desperation settles in,

I scramble to unwind

The mystery of how to live

And leave the past behind.

Want, need. Need, want-

Which is which I cannot tell

Because writing simply helps me breathe

And know I’m living well.

I feel a certain duty

To make my purpose plain

And yet I use comparison

Like life imitating rain.

Guilt, frustration, envy-

All have their motivation.

But I’ll say one thing with reason:

I’ll have no limitation

When my mind’s made up I’ll find it,

The thing I adamantly seek.

A way to vent and create myself

Through every twist and tweak.

Yes that’s why I do it

I write so I can feel.

Perhaps it's not original,

But it’s honest and it’s real.
