Expression of Poetry

(poems go here)Two sapphires did I see a shining
As I sank deeper into death unwinding
Colder did the waters grow
As I fell to the darkness deep below

Bewitching was the figure that showed
Her beauty positively glowed
Through the waters and the kelp
I reached for the hand that was my help

Gently her palm took in mine
And with her smile did her true beauty shine
A sparkle came from within her eyes
And within an instant did I realise

No longer was I within the sea
How was it this could be?
Was it nothing but a dream?
Stunned was I before the gleam

Shining from the sands before me
Sat a stone that couldn’t be
A beautiful sapphire glimmered away
There truly was no words to say

A voice called out my name from afar
What followed truly was bizarre
For no amount of effort could I speak
Unable to make even a squeak

Was this the price I had paid
Was this the deal I had made
I guess the rumours were true
Of the woman beneath the blue

Sapphire eyes that sought you out
Within my mind there truly was no doubt
T’was the silent mermaid
That had made with me an altering trade

My life in exchange for my voice
Should have made me rejoice
Instead I couldn’t help but wonder
How many people had fallen asunder?

How many voices had she taken
For how many lives otherwise forsaken
